In accordance with the Family Law of the Republic of Estonia, parents have equal parental rights regarding the care and upbringing of children, communication with them, as well as equal child care responsibilities. In the event that one of the parents prevents or restricts communication with the child, the other parent has the right to apply to the court in order to establish the procedure for communication.
When determining the order of communication with the child, the court establishes a clear schedule of meetings, based primarily on the interests of the child, his/her daily routine and the capabilities of the parents.
